Kiss me better
2002 Resin

This piece of work is about the inability to heal after trauma.

The hurt experienced is very deep, shown by the fact that a large bandage is in use, rather than a plaster. The wound cannot heal because the bandage is rolled up tight, and the blue, left by the original mould, depicts the festering, repeating of the trauma, within the person.

There is a very real desire to heal, as the bandage exists as well as the cry for help, depicted by the title…

“Kiss me better”

they are the words a mother would say to her child - slightly altered from…

“shall I kiss it better”.
