Head: silk stole (unique)
2004 Bronze

This sculpture is the result of experimenting with the casting process. The original fabric was ‘burnt out’ in the kiln leaving the image within the plaster investment ready for the bronze to be poured into.

The result has been the transformation of a very soft, beautiful, colourful piece of fabric, its texture and folds turned into the complete opposite - hard, heavy, cold bronze.

The original idea for the piece was to try and capture the idea that it is impossible to completely know someone – every person has a hidden, secret part of their character which may never be revealed.
