Head: Gloves
2004 Bronze

Gloves take on the shape and character of their owners and almost take on a life of their own. The different types of gloves in this sculpture were ‘burnt out’ in the kiln leaving the delicate lines and texture clearly visible in the resulting bronze.

However, gloves also encase the hands, keeping them warm, protecting them, or decorating them but in all cases a gloved hand cannot touch directly.

Touch – is taken for granted until it is lost.
