About the artist

Born in Africa, Jennifer Hall spent half her childhood in East Africa and half in rural Suffolk, eventually studying at the Norwich School of Art where she obtained a BA Hons in Graphic Design.  After working in London as a designer and then in Edinburgh in advertising, she married in 1985.  The family moved regularly because of work, in the UK and also to Europe, experiencing life in Brussels and Hamburg.

Her sudden return from Germany in 1999 with her three children motivated her into taking a BA Hons degree in Fine Art at the Suffolk College/UEA, which she completed in 2003.  She accepted the opportunity of a studio at Butley Mills Studios when it arose and was able to learn the art of bronze casting as well as benefitting from the unique creative atmosphere that is Butley. In 2005, she also rejoined the Sudbourne Park Printmakers at their new studios in Sudbourne Park where she is currently learning and experimenting with the many different print processes available.

2009 saw her exploring her interests further by studying at the Sainsbury Research Unit, University of East Anglia where she gained an MA in the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas.  Underpinning all of this has been her role as a Mother, bringing up her three children in beautiful rural Suffolk. The evidence of their support and influence can be seen in the work produced at Butley and Sudbourne and will no doubt continue to be an influence, as will the past cultures she learnt about during her MA.
