Wearing my Father's Gloves
2003 Bronze

Wearing my father's gloves is a realisation of a project which has been waiting to be made in glass, but has ended up in bronze.

The driving gloves of my father were given to me after his death six weeks after the birth of my daughter in 1988. I wear them in the winter when I walk my dog and have always felt it is almost as if he is walking with me.

There is something very powerful about old gloves and shoes - both take on the shape and presence of their owner. Now the shape of my hand has joined that of my father's within the glove - linked forever.
